Dentist and Owner
Dr. Hertzel grew up in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. He graduated with honors from Olmsted Falls High School where he was a member of National Honor Society, the marching band, and the bowling team. He then went to Muskingum University and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 2001. He was a member of the MACE Club and Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society while attending Muskingum. From there, he attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduated with His Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2005.
Dr. Hertzel has been in practice for over 20 years, the last 15 here at New Concord Family Dental. He was the associate dentist here for 14 years and recently purchased the practice from the owner towards the end of 2025. Dr. Hertzel enjoys all aspects of general dentistry because it makes every day exciting when you can provide a variety of procedures for all the patients. He used to work on the weekends for about 8 years providing dental services for members of the National Guard and Army Reserve. That experience has now led to providing dental services to veterans as a credentialed VA provider. Dr. Hertzel loves practicing in New Concord due to the small town atmosphere and down to Earth people he gets to work with everyday.
Dr. Hertzel resides in Gahanna with his wife, 2 kids, and 3 fur children (an Australian Shepherd, Tika, and 2 cats, Wootie and Floofy). Dr. Hertzel and his wife have been married for 23 years. Their son is in his third year at Ohio Northern University studying electrical engineering, and their daughter is a senior at Westerville North High School and plans to attend Otterbein University. In his spare time, Dr. Hertzel enjoys spending time with his family, watching the Buckeyes, fishing, bowling, and collecting sports cards. He also enjoys smoking meat, and occasionally drinking craft beers and bourbon.

Office Manager, Front Desk
Tracy Lynne Cartell has been in the dental field since 1989-back when charting involved actual paper and ''digital'' meant fingers.
After graduating as a dental technologist, she quickly followed her true passion into dental assisting where she spent nearly a decade as Dr. Hertzel’s right hand person. Life took a few unexpected turns (as it tends to do), but nearly five years later Tracy found her way back to the place that always felt like home-this time as office manager.
Today she leads a practice that truly operates like family, where patients are treated with care, compassion, and maybe even a laugh or two.
Serving veterans holds a special place in Tracy’s heart, as the wife, of the love of her life, is a proud United States Army Veteran. She finds deep purpose in supporting those who hav served our country at New Concord Family Dental.
Outside the office, Tracy is the proud momma to 3 sons and four ''mini human'' versions she absolutely adores.
When she is not at work she enjoys being creative, reading, spending time with family/friends, and cheering loudly for WVU where ''Let’s Go Mountaineers'' is always in season.
Most evenings are spent with her husband narrating what their pets (Ava, Jane, Asher, and Mr. Spider) are ''clearly thinking''.
Come see us at New Concord Family Dental where Tracy and the team are ready to make you smile-no judgement, just good care and friendly faces.
